Legislate Mandatory PFAS Food Limits The FDA’s recent rejection of a petition to set binding limits on toxic PFAS "forever chemicals" in our food is a dangerous failure of public safety. While the EPA actively regulates these carcinogens in drinking water, the FDA refuses to act on food—even though research confirms food is our primary source of exposure. A single serving of contaminated seafood or milk can match drinking highly contaminated water for weeks. Yet, the FDA only proposes non-binding "action levels" that keep toxic products on grocery shelves. The human body simply cannot differentiate between PFAS from a faucet or a fork. Because the FDA completely fails to protect us, Congress must intervene immediately. I urge you to quickly pass legislation establishing strict, mandatory tolerance levels for PFAS throughout our entire food supply. We don't want to eat this poison.
