Stop VA Discrimination

To: Sen. Bennet, Rep. Neguse, Pres. Trump, Sen. Hickenlooper

From: A constituent in Fort Collins, CO

June 17

The Trump regime's discriminatory "Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government" rule allowing VA medical staff to refuse treatment based on personal characteristics like politics, marital status, and national origin is unacceptable and unethical. Denying veterans access to vital healthcare due to their beliefs or background goes against core American values of equality and violates the VA's duty to serve all who served. Medical professionals must keep personal politics out of patient care.   This rule exerts dangerous political control, putting lives at risk by permitting refusal of treatment based on factors irrelevant to providing care. Such blatant discrimination has no place in the VA system or any part of our society.   I urge Congress to swiftly overturn this disturbing policy and reaffirm that VA hospitals must treat all veterans equally, without prejudice or partisan bias. Our veterans deserve better than to potentially be denied lifesaving treatment due to their personal views or circumstances. Reinstate full non-discrimination protections to uphold the VA's obligation to every patient.
