Reject extrajudicial deportations, uphold constitutional rights and due process

To: Sen. Cruz, Rep. Doggett, Pres. Trump, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Austin, TX

April 15

The suggestion to send "homegrown criminals" in the United States to El Salvador's notorious CECOT prison is a blatant violation of constitutional rights and due process. Such extrajudicial action would constitute illegal deportation and imprisonment, undermining the principles of justice and human rights that our nation was founded upon. We must reject this alarming proposal that disregards basic civil liberties and legal protections for all people within our borders, regardless of their background or actions. As a nation of laws, we cannot simply deport American citizens without due process to a foreign prison known for its brutal conditions. Protecting our constitutional rights is paramount, and any attempt to circumvent them through unlawful means must be firmly resisted. Upholding the rule of law and preserving human dignity should be our guiding principles, not reckless authoritarianism that tramples on fundamental freedoms.
