I am Christian who votes with my conscience, whether right or left. I also have studied Cold War politics and know how complex this situation is. And yet, the Geneva Convention holds us to codes of conduct that are not being followed in this situation. The blockade of Gaza has resulted in a severe humanitarian emergency that contravenes international humanitarian law and human rights principles. Urgent measures are imperative to ensure unfettered access for humanitarian relief, provisions, and basic necessities to reach Gaza's civilian populace, including its most vulnerable members - the children. Regardless of the geopolitical complexities involved, upholding the codes enshrined in the Geneva Conventions should be the paramount consideration in addressing this crisis.
