Support Discharge Petition No. 10 to Advance H.R. 1834 and Break Legislative Gridlock

To: Sen. Blackburn, Rep. Rose, Sen. Hagerty

From: A constituent in Nashville, TN

December 5

I am writing to urge you to sign Discharge Petition No. 10, filed by Representative Hakeem Jeffries on November 12, 2025, to bring House Resolution 780 and H.R. 1834 to the floor for a vote. This legislation addresses critical policy priorities that will break the gridlock preventing action on enhanced tax credits under the Affordable Care Act. Since the petition was filed, 214 Democratic Representatives have signed, demonstrating strong support for moving this legislation forward. The bill has been stalled in the Rules Committee since September 30, 2025, despite the urgent need for action on healthcare affordability. Enhanced ACA tax credits have made health insurance accessible to millions of Americans, and their extension is essential to prevent coverage losses and premium increases for working families. The discharge petition process exists precisely for situations like this, where important legislation with broad support cannot receive a fair vote through normal committee procedures. Representatives from across the country, including House leadership and members from California, New York, Texas, Illinois, and dozens of other states, have recognized the importance of this issue by adding their signatures. The most recent signatures were added by Jake Auchincloss on December 1, 2025, and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez on December 2, 2025. Without action, families in your district will face higher healthcare costs and potential loss of coverage when these enhanced tax credits expire. This is not a partisan issue but a matter of ensuring affordable healthcare access for constituents who depend on these subsidies to maintain their insurance. I respectfully ask that you sign Discharge Petition No. 10 to allow H.R. 1834 to receive the floor vote it deserves. Your constituents need this legislation to move forward, and signing this petition demonstrates your commitment to breaking through legislative obstacles that prevent progress on healthcare affordability.
