Support immigrant pathway to citizenship protecting families, communities

To: Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Moolenaar, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Rockford, MI

July 27

Senator Padilla has introduced the Renewing Immigration Provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act bill to reopen a lawful pathway to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants, providing an opportunity to counter cruel mass deportation policies that have torn families apart. The legislation would allow eligible immigrants to apply for permanent residency after residing in the United States on or before January 1, 2023. This critical reform addresses the realities of our nation's undocumented population, many of whom have lived and worked here for years, contributing to local communities and economies. Providing a pathway to citizenship for these longtime residents upholds American values of human rights and dignity while strengthening families and communities. This measure deserves full consideration and passage.
