I urge Congress and the Administration to maintain U.S. military and diplomatic commitments to our NATO allies and other treaty partners, and to oppose precipitous withdrawals from allied nations or international institutions.
Why:
NATO identifies Russia as the most significant and direct threat to Allied security.
NATO reports increasing Russian airspace violations, sabotage, cyberattacks, disinformation, and other hybrid operations against Allies.
The Pentagon is currently reviewing U.S. force levels in Europe, with potential reductions under consideration.
U.S. forces and alliances provide deterrence, intelligence sharing, strategic access, and the ability to respond rapidly to threats.
European allies are increasing their defense contributions; greater burden-sharing does not require American disengagement.
Please keep America engaged with its allies, maintain credible deterrence, and ensure that any major reductions are deliberate, coordinated with allies, and subject to meaningful congressional oversight.
