“I don’t mean to be a total simpleton, but can some member of our Alaska congressional delegation please explain to me the thinking behind blatantly and with zero meaningful resistance allowing President Trump to blow up every international alliance that has kept the Western world united against fascism, tyranny and naked aggression toward our neighbors?
Have I lost a step since my junior high civics classes that taught that NATO has been the most stabilizing force for the Western world since World War II? Last I checked, the legislative branch of the U.S. government has the power to put a stop to this lunacy of thinking that the U.S. can simply invade/acquire/take over/purchase Greenland, a semi-autonomous protectorate of NATO member Denmark, just because Trump — or whoever is in charge these days — wants to.
Trump is rapidly losing the mental capacity to run a hot dog stand, let alone the most powerful military on the planet, and those elected officials throughout the country who cling to his coattails because they’re either afraid to cross him, have naked ambition to be power-adjacent, can’t imagine life after elected office, or simply don’t care about the future of this country if it interferes with their political or financial interests will not be looked upon favorably when it all comes crashing down. Our standing on the world stage is already irreparably harmed. I don’t see how we get that back.”
