Protect Citizens from Political and Corporate Retaliation

To: Rep. Bergman, Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Beulah, MI

April 7

I am writing to urge you to co-sponsor and pass the No Political Enemies (NOPE) Act and similar legislation that protects Americans from being targeted by the government, politicians, or employers based on their political views, votes, or personal opinions of any administration. No American should fear a "duty to hunt" critics or face professional ruin for exercising their First Amendment rights. We need clear, enforceable laws that: 1 Ban the weaponization of federal agencies (like the DOJ or IRS) against political opponents. 2 Expand workplace protectionsto prevent CEOs and corporations from firing or harassing employees based on their lawful political activities or beliefs. 3 Establish personal liability for officials who use their power to intimidate or retaliate against private citizens. Our democracy depends on the ability to disagree without fear of state or corporate sanctioned "revenge." Please take a stand for our constitutional freedoms.
