I am writing to urge you to take ACTION to support workers in the Lehigh Valley. We need to support WORKING PEOPLE in order to keep our communities strong and healthy. Supporting UNION LABOR, RAISING the federal minimum wage and STOPPING TARIFFS are all good ways to do this. I was so glad to read your statement in the paper this morning - you said: “Lehigh Valley workers are among the best in the world, and I will continue to support policies that put American workers first and attract good paying jobs to our region." Thank you for voicing your support of LV workers! I’m excited to see you take ACTION and WORK IN A BIPARTISAN WAY to support us working people! The Mack Truck layoffs highlight the damage to REAL PEOPLE in your congressional district that is caused by RECKLESS and IRRESPONSIBLE ANTI-WORKER federal policies and tariff policies. To support working people in the Lehigh Valley, I we would love to see you TAKE ACTION to: - ENSURE that the National Labor Relations Board is FUNCTIONING and the Board is able to continue critical work to hold employers accountable and PROTECT THE RIGHTS of WORKERS. - ENACT LEGISLATION to RAISE THE FEDERAL MINIMUM WAGE TO $15/HR - PROTECT and STRENGTHEN SOCIAL SECURITY which we all RELY ON - LOWER PRESCRIPTION DRUG COSTS & make health care more affordable - part of the cost of union labor is due to expensive health care plans that are lining pockets of corporations and health care executives while RIPPING OFF consumers I am VERY CONCERNED about the direction we are headed - just 6 months ago, the economy was growing, investment in industry and manufacturing and clean energy was adding jobs to our economy. My retirement accounts were doing well. NOW: CHAOS - retirement accounts decimated, LOSING JOBS, ECONOMY declining. I’m not an economist but I would look at the policies that were in place about a year ago and try to make sure those policies are effectuated to keep things moving. Thank you.
