A man attempted to spray an unknown substance at Rep. Ilhan Omar during her town hall event in Minneapolis last night. Police arrested the man that lunged at Omar and used a syringe to spray a liquid. Rep. Omar has faced constant attacks by Trump and his administration. These verbal attacks have real world consequences, as we saw last night. It is clear that many people have complete trust in what the government says, and that they will act (without question) according to what they are told. If the government is pushing false information, followers will act on questionable motives. This puts innocent lives at risk. The current administration has proven that they are more than willing to pursue personal vendettas against people they perceive as adversaries. They are willing to skew narratives, spew insults, and outright lie to the American people in order to influence opinions and control perceptions. We the people deserve the truth. We deserve a government that does not lie or try to deceive the people. Government transparency and liability are ESSENTIAL to a democracy. I urge you to publicly condemn the attack on Rep. Omar. I also ask that you publicly condemn the current administration's attempts to control opinions by use of false information and verbal attacks. We are counting on you to serve the people and do the right thing.
