I need you to co-sponsor and vote yes on the ICE OUT Act. This bill finally holds ICE and CBP officers accountable when they violate people's constitutional rights during enforcement activities. Right now, qualified immunity lets immigration officers escape consequences for excessive force and other abuses. The ICE OUT Act eliminates immunity defenses for Fourth Amendment excessive force claims and requires courts to determine whether a constitutional violation occurred before letting officers hide behind immunity. This reverses the current system where courts can dismiss cases without ever deciding if someone's rights were actually violated. ICE and CBP have operated with near-total impunity for too long. People harmed by unconstitutional conduct deserve their day in court. This bill doesn't prevent legitimate enforcement—it simply ensures officers follow the Constitution. If an officer uses excessive force or violates someone's rights, they should face the same legal accountability as anyone else. The bill takes effect in January 2027, giving agencies time to adjust training and policies. Other federal law enforcement personnel manage to do their jobs without blanket immunity from excessive force claims. Immigration officers can too.
