Concern about White House East Wing demolition

To: Sen. Young, Pres. Trump, Sen. Banks, Rep. Houchin

From: A constituent in Bloomington, IN

October 26, 2025

I am writing as a concerned taxpayer and American who is proud of our country’s history. President Trump’s demolition of the entire East Wing of the White House is a huge break in decorum for a sitting president. That White House is on loan to him and his family for the duration of his term (which is part of the way through already), and he just destroyed over 100 years of American history using my tax money. What happened to all of the art and furniture inside the East Wing? Were archivists and historians present during demolition to preserve any found artifacts? I’m concerned that the president is forgetting the length of his term. Even if he wasn’t on his second term, his behavior, policies, and the effect they are having on the county and my life mean I’m sure not going to vote for him or anyone who shares his ideals. Hopefully this letter will be a reminder that when it comes to American politics, we the people are the bosses and the landlords. You got your jobs because of us, and the president temporarily gets the White House because of us. Don’t take that for granted. I would like a response addressing my concerns about the demolition of the East Wing. Thank you.
