Democrats spent the last 20 years ignoring the middle class and letting the republicans take all our power away. We now have an opportunity to retake that power by prioritizing policies that expand economic opportunity and raise living standards for working families. Trump's reckless trade wars have destabilized markets and made it harder for Americans to get ahead. We need a comprehensive plan grounded in free market economics - reducing barriers to trade and investment, cutting regressive taxes, investing in skills training and infrastructure, and fostering competition and innovation. Merely opposing Trump's damaging protectionism is insufficient. Democrats must champion an ambitious pro-growth agenda to reshape the economy and revive upward mobility through open markets, entrepreneurship, and meritocracy.
