The Social Security Administration is facing a dire funding crisis that threatens timely and accurate service for millions of Americans who have earned their benefits. Congress must take immediate action to ensure the agency has the resources it needs to fulfill its vital role. Set the minimum funding level at 1.2% of benefit outlays to protect public access to earned benefits. Include anomaly funding for Social Security in the upcoming continuing resolution to provide the agency with the means to serve the public properly. Allowing this funding shortfall to persist would be an unacceptable dereliction of duty to our nation's seniors and disabled individuals who rely on these earned benefits. Fully funding Social Security is a moral imperative and should be a top priority.
