The crime rate in the District of Columbia has been falling. It seems like an odd time to send in the troops. US troops, according to our governing document—the US Constitution—are NOT to be deployed on US soil against US citizens. Police are trained to respond to and prevent crime. Troops do not have that kind of training. Bullying is ineffective. Homeless people need homes and services not military intervention. DC should be given statehood and the resources and power for self-governance. Our Constitution was written to guard against the imposition of a police state. Americans don’t appreciate this kind of lawless behavior from our leaders. Troops out of DC, LA, etc.
