I am writing to urge you to demand immediate testimony from FCC Chair Brendan Carr before Congress regarding serious concerns about abuse of power and improper conduct. Reports indicate that Chair Carr has used his position to punish and extort individuals he considers political or personal enemies of President Trump. This represents a grave misuse of public office and raises urgent questions about impartiality, accountability, and the integrity of the FCC.
Additionally, it is unacceptable that the Chair of the FCC was invited to throw out the first pitch at a New York Yankees game and received VIP treatment from an organization currently in a dispute with Comcast, another frequent target of President Trump. This creates, at minimum, the appearance of impropriety and raises valid concerns about whether regulatory decisions are being influenced by perks and favors from powerful corporations.
Congress has a duty to uphold the independence of our regulatory bodies and ensure they are free from political weaponization and corporate influence. The American people deserve transparency. Chair Carr must be compelled to testify under oath to explain these actions and how they could possibly be appropriate for someone entrusted with regulating communications and media in the public interest.
I strongly urge you to take immediate steps to initiate oversight hearings and call FCC Chair Brendan Carr to testify. Public trust in the FCC is at stake, and Congress must not allow these abuses to go unanswered.
