I’m urging you to support the ZOMBIE Act (Zeroing Out Money for Buying Influence after Elections Act).
Right now, former candidates can keep leftover campaign funds indefinitely. These “zombie accounts” let politicians turn donor money into personal perks, bankroll lobbying careers, or quietly buy influence years after voters have had their say. That’s a betrayal of public trust.
The ZOMBIE Act closes this loophole. It requires unused campaign funds to be disbursed—either back to donors, toward legitimate debts, or to real charities. What it does not allow is campaign cash being stockpiled to advance personal or corporate interests.
This is common-sense reform:
Protects donor trust – contributions won’t become slush funds.
Prevents corruption – no stockpiling for lobbying or foreign agent work.
Restores faith in democracy – campaigns serve voters, not post-election influence schemes.
At a time of record-low trust in government, passing the ZOMBIE Act is a clear way to show voters that integrity still matters in Washington.
Please stand with the public and shut down zombie campaign accounts once and for all.
