Protect Our Children’s Future: Defend and Fund the Department of Education
I am a voting constituent writing to urge you to forcefully reject the administration's dangerous agenda to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education and demand that you fully fund this vital institution. As highlighted in the recent House hearing, Education Secretary Linda McMahon defended "sunsetting" this 46-year-old department, pushing to slash Civil Rights funding and offload essential special education (IDEA) programs to other federal agencies.
These actions make one thing undeniably clear: Linda McMahon doesn't care about education. Instead of advocating for our nations' children, she is executing a corporate-style liquidation of the federal guardrails that guarantee equitable access and protection for marginalized and disabled students. Shifting critical oversight to states without federal accountability will only deepen deep-seated inequities and leave millions of vulnerable students behind.
Education is a cornerstone of our republic, not a bureaucracy to be eliminated for political theater. We need a department that protects students and a leader who actually believes in public education. I call on Congress to stand up for our schools, safeguard federal education funding, and remove McMahon from her position immediately.
