I am writing to express my deep concern about proposals to roll back clean energy policies and tax credits currently established under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), particularly the technology-neutral clean energy tax credits in Sections 45Y and 48E. Recent economic analysis paints a troubling picture of how such rollbacks would impact American households and businesses. According to modeling from Rhodium Group, repealing IRA tax credits combined with rolling back power plant and vehicle emissions standards would increase annual household energy costs by $111 to $184 by 2030. Additionally, their analysis shows that the industrial sector would face $8 billion to $14 billion in increased energy spending between 2030 and 2035. Further research from Energy Innovation reinforces these concerns, finding that repealing key tax credits would not only lead to higher energy bills but would also result in nearly 800,000 American jobs lost by 2030. As your constituent, and as an employee serving the manufacturing sector in Northeast Tennessee, I urge you to protect these vital clean energy provisions that are helping American families save money and creating jobs in our communities. The data clearly shows that maintaining these policies is the fiscally responsible choice for both households and businesses. Thank you for your service to our country.
