Shut down every ICE detention center and defund the agency entirely. The death rate in ICE immigrant detention facilities has more than doubled under the current administration. People are dying — a Vietnamese man with cardiovascular problems collapsed and died in the "Speedway Slammer," a repurposed Indiana maximum-security prison, and a Chinese man in a Pennsylvania facility had previously attempted suicide. These are not isolated incidents. This is a pattern of institutional killing.
There is no legitimate justification for caging human beings in conditions that produce this kind of mortality rate. ICE detention is not a public safety tool — it is a system that brutalizes people who have not been convicted of any crime. Not one more dollar should go toward funding it. Close the centers, defund ICE, and redirect those resources toward humane, accountable immigration processing. This is a human rights crisis happening on American soil, and you have the power to act on it now.
