Stop ending protection for 60 million acres of National Forest Land

To: Sen. Gallego, Rep. Stanton, Sen. Kelly

From: A verified voter in Phoenix, AZ

June 10

Senator Mike Lee has introduced a last-minute amendment to the Wildfire Prevention Act that would eliminate the 2001 Roadless Rule, stripping protections from roughly 60 million acres of national forest land. This is an attempt to sneak a major public lands policy change through before most Americans even hear about it. There has been little public attention given to a proposal that could have significant impacts on national forests, wildlife habitat, recreation, Tribal interests, and local communities across the country. I implore you to oppose this amendment and work to keep it out of the bill.
