The American public deserves full transparency regarding Elon Musk's potential conflicts of interest as he wields immense influence over the federal government through his role in the Department of Government Efficiency task force. By keeping his financial disclosure confidential, there is a lack of oversight into whether his actions may directly benefit his vast business interests spanning SpaceX, Tesla, X (formerly Twitter), The Boring Company, Neuralink, and xAI. Some of these companies have dealings with foreign entities, raising additional concerns. As Musk himself has stated, there should be no need for FOIA requests and all government data should be publicly available by default for maximum transparency. Allowing his financial disclosure to remain confidential is antithetical to this principle of open government. His significant sway over agencies necessitates the public's ability to scrutinize any potential conflicts to prevent ethics violations and ensure decisions are made in the national interest, not for personal gain. I urge you to push for the release of Musk's full financial disclosure to foster accountability and maintain trust in our democratic institutions.
