The recent abduction and condemnation of hundreds of Venezuelan migrants to a concentration camp in El Salvador is unconstitutional as well as immoral. The process for identifying these supposed “gang members” was deeply flawed and ignored due process. Already, it has become explicitly clear that at least some of these men were condemned erroneously, and that is just from those who have been able to afford legal representation. Our tax dollars paid for the abduction of these men, and we are currently paying for them to be held in prison. There is no reason we should be unable to free them.
Judge Paula Xinis just ruled that Kilmar Abrego-Garcia must be returned home (a ruling the DOJ is attempting to appeal despite clearly being a just ruling), but this is just a start. All of the men should be returned to the United States where they should receive just and humane treatment, with compensation for the cruelty they were subjected to. If any of them truly did commit crimes, let them answer for it in court. Do not add to America’s shameful inhumanity. I urge you to speak out and support any and all measures to right this terrible wrong.
