Revoke the visa granted to Flávio Bolsonaro immediately. He fled Brazil after losing Sunday's presidential election, slipping across the border into Argentina, routing through Ecuador to avoid Brazilian airspace, and landing in Miami under police escort. Brazilian police had already asked the supreme court to retain his passport over concerns he would flee, citing a money-laundering investigation worth roughly $905 million tied to betting companies.
The State Department handed him a visa anyway, and Trump personally endorsed the move. This is the United States welcoming a fugitive from justice because of who his father is. Flávio's escape was planned weeks in advance, organized by his brother Eduardo, who has been lobbying the Trump administration from self-imposed exile in the US. Sheltering him rewards that scheme.
Brazil's courts are handling this through legitimate legal processes. Granting safe harbor to someone who ran from those processes is a slap at the rule of law. Revoke the visa and send a clear message that the US is not a refuge for people fleeing criminal accountability.
