Support Supreme Court Expansion to 13 Justices Now

Support legislation to expand the Supreme Court to 13 justices. House Minority Whip Jim Clyburn — not a radical, the same man whose endorsement delivered Joe Biden the 2020 primary — has called for exactly this. Read his case here: https://newrepublic.com/article/214954/supreme-court-expansion-james-clyburn. When someone of his stature and temperament says the court needs structural reform, Congress should listen. This court has earned its 33 percent approval rating. It overturned Roe. It gutted the Voting Rights Act in Louisiana v. Callais, letting Southern legislatures erase majority-Black congressional districts almost overnight. It invented presidential immunity from whole cloth, shielding a president from criminal accountability and rewriting the Constitution to fit one man. These weren't close calls or principled disagreements — they were a six-justice majority systematically dismantling a century of precedent. Expanding to 13 seats, matching the 13 federal circuit courts, is a proportionate and legitimate congressional response to a court that has abandoned any pretense of neutrality. The window for action is real. Democrats may have another shot at this in 2029. Don't wait for the moment to pass again the way it did under Biden, when an expansion proposal was quietly buried in a presidential commission. Act now.
