The Trump movement continues to dismantle the core institutions of our democracy. From blatant gerrymandering efforts in Texas to attempts at accessing state election systems, it’s clear that the playbook beyond 2024 includes continued undermining of the electoral process by any means necessary.
 This is not the time for cautious politics. We are only free when all of us are free and that includes the freedom to vote in fair, secure, and transparent elections. As a Washingtonian, I’m asking you to take bold, proactive steps to defend our democratic systems now, not later.

We’ve seen leadership from California Governor Gavin Newsom, who’s willing to call out authoritarian threats and take decisive action. Washington must show the same courage. Our state needs to be on the offensive, not merely reacting or hoping these threats pass us by. 
I want to know: are you the kind of elected official who will rise to meet this moment, or one who waits quietly, hoping to coast into the next election? What you do right now will define your legacy and voters like me are paying attention.
 This is the time to lead. We need to see strong, visible action from you in defense of democracy. Do the right thing. Stand with those who are fighting for the soul of this nation.
