Privately-owned utilities like SCE (Southern California Edison a subsidiary of Edison) charge customers more to enable them to pay their investors and CEOs higher profits and to enable them to lobby in government and to donate to politicians. Please provide a bill that will require utilities to be publicly owned by the people who need the service and require that the money the people pay for their service be used only to serve the people. All the money that people pay to their utility company should be to service the people… not to make investors filthy rich or give them political power. In these days of climate change, utilities are a necessity, not a luxury. The people who don’t have A/C in extreme heat or heat in extremely cold weather often die. We must make these utilities that are necessary for survival affordable. The best way to do this is by requiring that the utilities be publicly-owned and not owned by greedy investors who continually grasp for more and more profits. It’s a matter of life and death. Please Make utilities in California publicly owned. It’s the right thing to do.
