OPPOSE nomination of Emil Bove to US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit
To: Sen. Warnock, Sen. Ossoff
From: A constituent in Atlanta, GA
June 25
As your constituent, I urge you to vote against confirming Emil Bove to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. His conduct as Deputy Attorney General demonstrates a fundamental disregard for judicial authority that disqualifies him from the federal bench.
According to whistleblower testimony from career DOJ attorney Erez Reuveni, Mr. Bove stated that the Justice Department should consider telling courts "f--- you" and ignore court orders during deportation proceedings. This shocking contempt for judicial authority from someone seeking lifetime tenure as a judge reveals a temperament incompatible with judicial service.
This isn't an isolated incident. Mr. Bove's handling of the Eric Adams case prompted mass resignations from career prosecutors who refused to participate in what they viewed as politically motivated actions. These weren't partisan Democrats but career professionals, including attorneys who clerked for GOP-appointed justices. Even the conservative Wall Street Journal editorial board expressed concern about his conduct.
Federal judges serve lifetime appointments to insulate them from political pressure. Mr. Bove's track record suggests he views legal proceedings through a political lens rather than as impartial applications of law. The Third Circuit handles critical constitutional questions affecting millions of Americans. We need judges who will follow the law regardless of political considerations.
I respectfully request that you vote against Mr. Bove's confirmation and use your voice to highlight these concerns about his willingness to ignore court orders. Our democracy depends on judges who respect the rule of law above political loyalty.
Thank you for your leadership in protecting judicial independence.
