I am writing to register my urgent and complete objection to recent proposals to invade or purchase Greenland. This idea is profoundly misguided. It threatens to overturn decades of stability, cooperation, and peaceful order in Europe and the North Atlantic.
Greenland is a territory of Denmark, a close U.S. ally and full NATO member. Any attempt to forcibly seize or coerce the transfer of Greenland would violate international law, breach NATO obligations, and shatter the alliance structure that has helped maintain peace for nearly 80 years.
The United States must not pursue policies that undermine NATO, threaten democratic allies, or destabilize the global system. I urge you to issue clear public opposition to any such actions and to use your authority to prevent escalation.
America must lead with diplomacy, legitimacy, and respect for our allies—not territorial ambitions.
