Preserve Department of Education: Ensuring Educational Equity, Excellence

To: Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell, Rep. Randall

From: A constituent in Tacoma, WA

February 3

The Department of Education plays a vital role in upholding the right to education and ensuring equal access to quality learning opportunities for all Americans. Eliminating this agency would undermine efforts to promote academic excellence, support students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and advance educational equity nationwide. We must safeguard the Department of Education and its critical functions, such as administering federal student aid programs, enforcing civil rights laws in education, collecting data to inform policies, and providing resources to improve student outcomes. Dismantling this essential agency would have severe consequences for millions of students, teachers, and families across the country. I urge you to uphold the Department of Education and advocate for its continued existence and effective operation. Investing in education is an investment in our nation's future prosperity and the realization of the American dream for all children, regardless of their circumstances. Let us work together to strengthen, not dismantle, this crucial institution that serves as a bedrock of opportunity.
