Oppose LRAD Weapons in Mpls

To: Sen. Duckworth, Rep. Davis, Sen. Durbin

From: A verified voter in Forest Park, IL

January 27

I am so alarmed by this news, out from journalist Rachel Hurley this morning: "On January 26th - yesterday - law enforcement showed up to a protest in Maple Grove with an LRAD. That’s a Long Range Acoustic Device. The military developed them after the USS Cole bombing in 2000 to blast warnings at approaching boats from a quarter mile away. They can hit 162 decibels. A jet engine is 140. The threshold for permanent hearing damage is 130. And now they’re sitting on top of armored vehicles at hotels in suburban Minnesota." HOW IS THIS HAPPENING? Surely this kind of weapon is completely disallowed under current law and even specific court orders handed down in recent weeks/months relating to weapons used against protesters. Please, use your influence to ensure that these powerful, dangerous and harmful weapons are not turned on peaceful protesters.
