The decision to dismantle USAID is deeply concerning and misguided. This independent agency has played a vital role in providing essential humanitarian aid, promoting development, and advancing American interests globally for over 60 years. Abruptly shutting it down would be immensely destructive, cutting off crucial assistance that saves lives, fights poverty and disease, empowers women and girls, and helps build stability in regions vulnerable to extremism. This unilateral move by the administration seems to violate legal requirements and democratic norms. I urge you to use your authority to halt this reckless action and ensure USAID can continue its important work around the world. Eliminating this agency would undermine American leadership, damage long-standing global partnerships, and make the world less secure. I implore you to reconsider this ill-advised decision that puts ideology over evidence and human lives at risk.
