Stand Up to Donald Trump's Genocidal Threats of War Crimes

To: Sen. Warnock, Rep. Collins, Sen. Ossoff

From: A constituent in Athens, GA

April 7

You must publicly oppose President Trump's threats against Iran and work to prevent the war crimes unfolding in real time. Trump's statement that "a whole civilization will die tonight" is an explicit threat of genocide, and the ongoing strikes have already killed at least 18 civilians in Alborz Province alone, including two children. US and Israeli forces have destroyed an 80-year-old synagogue in Tehran and bombed civilian infrastructure across Iran, including railway lines, bridges, and highways. These attacks on transportation networks serve no military purpose beyond terrorizing the population. The strikes have killed civilians from Lebanon to Iraq, turning the entire region into a war zone while oil prices have doubled to $116 per barrel and gas has hit $4.14 per gallon. Congress has the constitutional authority to stop this. Invoke the War Powers Resolution to force withdrawal of US forces from these operations. Co-sponsor legislation to block funding for strikes on Iran. Trump has set and shifted multiple deadlines throughout this crisis, manufacturing urgency to justify atrocities. This is not defense. This is collective punishment of 90 million people, and it violates every principle of international law. I expect you to act immediately to stop it.
