NO MORE FUNDS for ICE lawlessness, cruelty, and abuse

To: Sen. Collins, Sen. King, Rep. Golden

HOLD ICE ACCOUNTABLE STOP THE DEPORTATION QUOTAS DEMAND PROPER STANDARDS STOP THE DEATHS, CRUELTY and LIES NO MORE FUNDS FOR ICE ICE is violating the law and shredding the constitution: ICE has been PERSISTENTLY *VIOLATING* THAT LAW, both by the actions of its agents and the orders and policies handed down by superiors. Deaths, suicides, and torture in detention at horrifying: Rep Pingree notes "Since October, at least 7 people detained by ICE have died by suicide—a number that "far exceeds the growth of the detainee population." 51 have died in ICE custody since Trump took office. Experts believe many of these deaths could've been prevented." The spectacle of ICE agents at Delaney pointing rifles at, and using tear gas on, unarmed peaceful protestors is horrifying. It's also an abridgement of the right to seek assemble and seek redress of grievances. ICE is also defying Congress members rights and duty to conduct oversight. More deportations occurred under Biden than Trump --WITHOUT the apparatus of Trump's ICE gestapo. Please hold hearings to investigate the perverse incentive costs of detentions and expose the corporations who are profiting by detentions. Each day's news brings fresh horrors, further corruption, cruelty, and defiance of the law by ICE and Trump's regime. If you won't consider moral arguments remember that justice will come some day. We can't afford more of ICE terror, lawbreaking and abuse.
