The Iranian war needs to end NOW! The majority of Americans do not support it. I and others are full of rage that our military are being again asked to fight and die for a war that could have been avoided. We are furious that civilians including schoolchildren have been killed by our bombs. In addition, not only does it cost too much, that money could be used for social programs at home. Hegseth and Trump are leading us into disaster. Congress MUST pass a war powers resolution and cut off funding for unauthorized escalation! And Congress must remove Trump from office before his recklessness becomes irreversible! There is no other way! Trump eventually admits defeat and withdraws from Iran. But a failed American war would further erode U.S. credibility and likely accelerate a broader shift in influence toward China and Russia and oil may no longer be pegged to the U.S. dollar as the global currency, devastating the US economy. 2. A ground invasion, whichTrump has not ruled out. But Iran is geographically vast, heavily populated, politically complex, and militarily formidable. A U.S. ground invasion would not be a quick operation & potentially millions could die, the global economy would likely be pushed into a prolonged recession & the risk of a broader world war would rise dramatically. 3. The use of nuclear weapons by Israel or the United States. This horrendous possibility is real. But research found that a large-scale nuclear war could kill more than 5 billion people through famine and system-wide collapse, even apart from the immediate blast deaths and nuclear war does not promise survival. It promises planetary ruin. 4. Trump resigns or is impeached, the war is halted, and actual peace negotiations begin. With Trump removed from power, there is at least a possibility of returning to diplomacy, de-escalation, and meaningful non-proliferation efforts. This is not Republicans and Conservatives vs. Democrats and Liberals. It's working constitutional government versus authoritarian/ fascist leaning government. And although things are bad now, they can get much worse as shown above because Trump has not ruled out the worst options. He has already shown that he will ignore constitutional limits! Congress can not keep making strongly worded statements and not acting! The legal and moral stakes are too high! Congress must act NOW! Trump must be removed from the machinery of war before his recklessness becomes irreversible. Stop this war, cut off funding for unauthorized escalation, impeach Trump and reassert that the Constitution is not optional!! If we fail to stop this now, history will not be kind to us. It will say we did not do what morally had to be done!!
