The Trump administration is lawless and unchecked. The Legislative is sitting idly on the sidelines while a few brave voices in the Judiciary are trying to curb the administration’s worst impulses. Your silence in Congress is an explicit declaration of consent for whatever this corrupt administration is doing. Accepting a gift worth $400M USD from a state that has sponsored terrorism. Creating an atmosphere of fear in the home of the brave, where everyone holds back criticism and simply nods their heads at their most atrocious actions. Defunding research in science and intimidating academics to silence those who are most likely to be able to use logic and rationality to demonstrate their follies. Ask yourself if you are on the right side of history. Ask yourself if you have been supporting crimes against humanity when you refuse to take action against the mistreatment of migrants. Ask yourself if you are agreeing to let corruption run rampant in the land of the free. Ask yourself where this country is going to end up when we lose scientists and other academics to the rest of the world. Ask yourself what you are doing while this administration ignores all common sense and damages our standing in the world with respect to international trade and to the geopolitical order? I urge to think clearly and to take action. You have been squandering precious time while our nation is being dismantled inexorably and intentionally. Be independent. Be honest. Be American.
