I am deeply alarmed that Jimmy Kimmel was threatened by Trump’s FCC, which pressured him to pull his interview with Texas Senate candidate James Talarico from TV. The FCC’s recent pattern of pressuring broadcasters to censor political candidates is a direct violation of our freedom of speech. The FCC is determining which candidates the public is allowed to see and hear on public airways right before the midterm elections. That’s highly inappropriate and possibly illegal. Congress needs to stop this federal agency from being turned into a tool of censorship. The Senate must also refuse to confirm Danielle Thumann Severs without a Democratic counterpart. It’s clear Brendan Carr is weaponizing the FCC to push the president’s narratives – and silence voices who don’t fall in line. I expect my lawmakers to stand up to this politicization. Thanks.
