Incompetence at every level

To: Sen. King, Rep. Pingree, Sen. Collins

From: A verified voter in Gorham, ME

April 3

Today I’m reading a Wired magazine report about CBP employees using the Quizlet flashcard app to store highly confidential information and access codes for one or more of its facilities. Doesn’t the US government have security protocols to prevent this level of carelessness? This information was not discovered through hacking or leaks. It was discovered through journalists doing simple Google searches. The adults responsible for security in the Trump administration know less about online security than the average teenager. Gutting our nation’s bureaucracies and firing hundreds (thousands?) of career experts has created endless opportunity for mischief and malevolent action, and it puts all of us in great danger. I have no expectation that the Trump administration will hold anyone responsible for these security breaches (I’m still waiting for consequences for last year’s Signal debacle), but I hope this instance and other examples of incompetence will be investigated so future legal action will be possible.
