Impeach Secretary Kennedy for Unlawful Attack on Transgender Youth

To: Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Tlaib, Sen. Peters

From: A verified voter in Livonia, MI

April 20

I'm calling on you to support impeachment proceedings against Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for his unlawful attempt to restrict gender-affirming care for minors. On April 18, U.S. District Judge Mustafa T. Kasubhai struck down Kennedy's December 2025 declaration, finding that he exceeded his authority, violated the Administrative Procedure Act, and acted without following required rulemaking procedures. Judge Kasubhai wrote that Kennedy's "unlawful declaration harmed children" and concluded that "when a leader acts without authority and in the absence of the rule of law, he acts with cruelty." Kennedy's directive caused hospitals nationwide to abruptly halt care for transgender youth, threatening providers with exclusion from Medicare and Medicaid—what the court called a "financial death sentence." He issued this policy despite gender-affirming care being supported by the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics as safe, effective, and evidence-based. A federal official who deliberately circumvents the law to harm vulnerable children has violated his oath of office. Kennedy must be held accountable through impeachment.
