Uphold the law - defend the Constitution

I am writing urging you to reaffirm Congress’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and the rule of law. Our democracy cannot thrive when leaders face no consequences for undermining the Constitution or abusing public trust. President Donald Trump’s repeated refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election, his attempts to overturn lawful democratic outcomes, and his involvement in events leading up to the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol all represent clear threats to the peaceful transfer of power—one of our nation’s defining principles. The numerous state and federal criminal indictments related to election interference, classified documents, and obstruction of justice demonstrate how essential it is to apply the law evenly, regardless of position or office held. Beyond these legal matters, the growing concentration of executive power and the use of unilateral decisions on foreign policy raise constitutional concerns. Congress must exercise full oversight before authorizing any new military actions abroad, ensuring that commitments of U.S. forces are legitimate and transparent to the American people. The president has ignored congress. I also ask that you support continued investigation into the Epstein case and related failures of law enforcement and institutional oversight. The public deserves accountability whenever evidence suggests systemic corruption or the protection of influential individuals from prosecution. Finally, I urge sustained oversight of immigration enforcement and detention practices. Protestors are entitled to the right of protest without risking their lives. Numerous reports by watchdog organizations and journalists have documented overcrowding, inadequate medical care, and lack of access to counsel at existing detention facilities. These conditions demand reform consistent with human rights and constitutional protections. I ask that you act decisively to uphold justice, defend the Constitution, and protect the integrity of our nation’s democratic institutions.
