Defund ICE, shut down the Dilley detention facility, and pursue prosecution of every official responsible for what is happening there — from the agents on the ground to the President who ordered this. This is not a policy disagreement. This is state-sanctioned cruelty.
Laura Rojas Ortiz is 21 years old, five months pregnant, and has been locked up at Dilley for over 40 days with her infant son. She was complying with every requirement — wearing an ankle monitor, checking in regularly, actively applying for a U visa after a bullet grazed her child. ICE detained her anyway. She has received no ultrasound, no specialist care, no blood work. Her infant was taken off the lactose-free milk he needs. When lawmakers visited the facility, staff moved her to a medical room to hide her condition from them. That is not negligence. That is deliberate concealment.
ICE's own directive says the agency should not detain pregnant individuals except under exceptional circumstances. They are violating their own rules and lying about it. Dr. Sean Conley's claim that detainees receive better healthcare than they've ever had in their lives is an obscenity in the face of these facts. No reform fixes this. The institution is the problem. Defund it, close Dilley, and hold every person who made this possible accountable under the law.
