Maine has seen the brutality and illegality of ICE enforcement.
Now the US and the world see that the immorality of the brutality, cruelty, deprivation and torture inside Delaney Hall is matched by the brutal abuse of rights, decency, and the truth itself outside.
I am asking you to do everything you can at state level to stop law-breaking by ICE: stop the destruction of habeas corpus, stop the deprivation of rights, stop the cruelty. Stop the kidnappings and disappearances.
ICE is no longer law enforcement they are now breakers of the law and shredders of the constitution.
I want to remind you that ICE violates USC Title 18 section 242: please,
UPHOLD THAT LAW!
Section 242 of Title 18 makes it a crime for a person acting under color of any law to willfully deprive a person of a right or privilege protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States.
Please let me also remind you that Mullin's plan to retaliate against sanctuary cities is also ILLEGAL.
Mullins scheme to retaliate by messing with air travel and airports customs and security staffing would not only be greatly damaging: it is a flagrant confession of his intent to VIOLATE U.S. Const. Art 1, s. 9, cl. 6. That article reads: "No Preference shall be given by any Regulation of Commerce or Revenue to the Ports of one State over those of another" U.S. Const. Art 1, s. 9, cl. 6
Please reply to assure me that you will be using all the tools available to you at state level to block the illegal cruelty of ICE, to block concentration camps and the intolerable violence of ICE to detainees and protesters. Protecting their legal rights is the law enforcement we need now.
