No War in Iran

To: Sen. King, Rep. Pingree, Sen. Collins

From: A constituent in Cape Elizabeth, ME

March 4

I am writing to express my total opposition to the war in Iran. The president has not been able to identify an imminent threat to the American people and has not been able to coherently state an objective when asked for one (for the most part changing his answer). The profound incompetence of the Secretary of Defense is on full display as well in his macho, bravado laden comments to the national media. I would add that if the rumors are true that it has been communicated to our military this war is somehow a divine plan and the president has been anointed to usher in Armageddon, someone should be held immediately accountable and lose their job. Insinuations like that are not only reckless but are disrespectful to our troops in the face of what they are being asked to do, and disrespectful to people’s religious freedoms.  Finally, but certainly not least in this debacle is the fact that the president completely bypassed congress to engage in this war and has no apparent plans to correct that. I encourage you to do whatever is in your power to regain control of congressional authority to contain and mitigate the incredibly dangerous situation the president has put our nation in.
