I am writing to express my alarm at HR9495. This bill purports to root out terrorism. Instead, it could and likely would be used by the incoming Trump administration to silence and punish nonprofit organizations and suppress dissent. I am deeply disturbed by the potential implications of this bill. It poses a danger to freedom of speech and to the constitutional rights of all Americans. It poses a particular risk to organizations that support marginalized communities targeted by the incoming Trump administration, including LGBTQ communities. I strongly urge you to oppose this bill and to do everything in your power to prevent it from passing.
