To: Sen. Collins, Sen. King, Rep. Golden

From: A verified voter in Lewiston, ME

January 14

Tell Rep. Stauber to STOP trying to ruin the Boundary Waters. The stunning area of unspoiled wilderness is a sacred trust which we must preserve for our descendants. Stauber's latest bill, HR 978, is an attack on the area which would cause irreparable damage. It is also stupid, costly, and corrupt. Calculations show that Boundary Water Tourism will bring in more revenues that ruinous mining. The bill would benefit a rich foreign mining magnate. the Superior National Forest Restoration Act) aims to reverse the Biden administration's 20-year mining ban near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA) by rescinding protections, reinstating canceled leases for Twin Metals Minnesota, and fast-tracking copper-nickel mining approvals, directly threatening the wilderness with sulfide-ore mining pollution
