Halt unconstitutional DOGE overhaul of government agencies

To: Rep. Clark, Sen. Markey, Sen. Warren

From: A constituent in Revere, MA

February 12

The radical DOGE restructuring of government agencies and programs spearheaded by Trump and Musk is a blatant violation of the Constitution's separation of powers. Congress alone possesses the authority to enact sweeping changes to the federal government's scope and policies. The president must faithfully execute the laws passed by Congress, not unilaterally dismantle agencies and terminate employees en masse. This extralegal overhaul disregards the system of checks and balances enshrined in our founding charter. The Supreme Court must intervene to halt this unconstitutional power grab. The Court's recent rulings, such as West Virginia v. EPA and Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, have made clear that major policy shifts require explicit congressional approval. The DOGE agenda represents a profound remaking of the government without any legislative sanction. Unless Congress authorizes these drastic measures, the judiciary is duty-bound to rein in this lawless executive overreach and preserve the Constitution's sacred balance of powers. By circumventing the people's elected representatives, the DOGE process threatens the very foundations of our democratic republic. Congress must either legitimize this transformation through legislation or the Supreme Court must uphold the Constitution by striking it down as unconstitutional government by fiat. Inaction will only enable this alarming erosion of America's system of checks and balances.
