Support the Ruling Protecting Transgender Passport Rights

To: Sen. Markey, Rep. Neal, Sen. Warren

From: A constituent in Westfield, MA

April 19

I am writing to express my full support for the recent federal court ruling that blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to change passport rules in a way that would have stripped recognition from transgender Americans. This decision is a critical affirmation of the dignity, identity, and rights of trans people in this country. No American should be denied accurate government documentation that reflects their identity. Such changes would have caused direct harm to transgender individuals—impacting their ability to travel, work, access services, and live safely. I urge you to not only respect the court’s decision, but to go further: protect and codify the rights of transgender Americans at the federal level, ensure that gender markers on identification documents remain accessible and accurate, and defend civil rights for all—regardless of gender identity. This is about human rights, legal equality, and basic dignity. Please stand on the right side of history.
