This bill threatens to erode established reproductive rights and bodily autonomy for women and girls. It disregards their ability to make deeply personal choices about their own lives and health. Beyond that, such blanket legislation fails to account for the many tragic situations that may necessitate terminating a pregnancy, such as severe fetal abnormalities, risks to the mother's life, or cases of rape or incest. Rather than promoting an ideological agenda, we should focus on reducing unintended pregnancies through comprehensive sex education and access to contraception. We urge reconsideration of this regressive measure that undermines fundamental freedoms. Instead, policies should empower women while respecting their complex circumstances.
