Stop S519 and Continue Funding Corporation for Public Broadcasting

To: Pres. Trump, Sen. Banks, Sen. Young, Rep. Carson

From: A verified voter in Indianapolis, IN

April 28

I understand your concern about S. 519, the "No Propaganda Act," which aims to prohibit federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). The CPB plays a vital role in supporting educational, cultural, and journalism initiatives across the country. Defunding it would deprive communities of access to high-quality, noncommercial programming and undermine a trusted source of objective reporting. Public broadcasting has consistently demonstrated its commitment to factual, unbiased coverage of news and events. By maintaining strict editorial standards and drawing from diverse perspectives, CPB-funded outlets serve as a counterweight to the sensationalism and partisanship that has become increasingly prevalent in commercial media. Furthermore, the CPB's funding represents a small fraction of the federal budget, yet its impact is immense, especially in rural and underserved areas where alternative sources of educational content are limited. Cutting off this vital resource would do far more harm than good. I urge you to reject this misguided attempt to undermine public broadcasting under the guise of combating "propaganda." The CPB's mission to inform, educate, and enrich American society through objective, noncommercial programming is integral to a well-functioning democracy. Please stand up for the preservation of this invaluable public service.
